Carjacker Arrested After High-Speed Chase
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
A carjacker was arrested after leading about 20 Los Angeles police patrol cars and at least one helicopter on a high-speed chase from Valley Village to South Los Angeles.
A resident in Valley Village had reported at about 10:30 a.m. a man taking keys from inside his home in the 4700 block of St. Clair Ave. and stole his car, LAPD spokesman Officer Bruce Borihanh said.
Officers from the LAPD's Central Station spotted the car near Cesar Chavez Avenue at Mission Road and gave chase, Borihanh said.
The suspect eventually stopped beneath an overpass of the Century (105) Freeway.
The suspect, whose name was withheld, was arrested and expected to be charged with burglary, grand theft auto and evading police, Borihanh said. No one was injured in the incident.
