BB9 Blog: But It's My Birthday!
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
Wouldn't it be so amazing if Alex unexpectedly returned tonight? We can only hope.
In any event, here we are with another eviction night and Julie gets right down to it: Matt has been blind-sided and is now at the mercy of the house. He's on the block with Ryan.
Naturally, Matty's favorite pseudo soul-mate Natalie is very upset. James went back on his promise to her that he wouldn't put up Matt.
Natalie: "James, you're a liar and your word doesn't mean diddly squat!"
Matt is taking it hard as well, sobbing and walking around the house in a daze. Natalie tries many times to console him, but he tells her he wants some alone time.
Obviously this means alone time from her though because he immediately goes and talks to James. He cries to James about how he promised his mom that he'd win the game, but James, content with his decision because Matt SO did him wrong (Not really. James is totally overreacting, IMO) is unsympathetic.
Matt decides that if he does want to find some sympathy in the house, he's going to have to go after the other girls. Chelsia, Sheila and Sharon. Oddly enough, it's Adam, Matt's Bible study partner, who comes and shakes Matt out of his pity funk. He tells Matt to get over it and start campaigning.
We know Matt does love a good campaign, and this time, he tries to play the "birthday card." He tells Sharon, Chelsia and Sheila that if they vote him out, he'll be alone in the sequester house on his birthday. He's never been alone on his birthday before. He hates being alone, in general. Sob sob sob. None of them buy any of that malarky, though.
Next, Matt tries a more direct approach. He approaches the women and asks what he ever did to them to be voted out. Really? Ryan put all three of them up on the block in some way or another, screamed at Chelsia, took Sheila's ten grand. Why do they want to keep Ryan?
And finally, perhaps at the mention of the money, Sheila perks up. Yeah! Why should she keep Ryan? Matt really has never done anything in the house to anyone. In fact, if anything, he's been meanest to Natalie whose only problem is that she likes him too much.
So Sheila once again does what she does best and brings out the "Mean Mom" mode. She goes to James and starts berating him. Matt hasn't done anything. Ryan is the one you're really mad at. Why not keep Matt? Ryan is a much bigger question-mark. And on and on and on. She very much has this lecture thing down pat. Eventually even cool, calm, collected James says, "I don't know, Sheila! I don't know!"
That would have been a great time for James to channel Adam with a little bit of the old, "Maaaaaa!!"
Finally, it's almost time for the eviction, which, oddly, has turned into a nail-biter. No clear sign on who might go.
But first, the house-guests get to hear who was in the mystery box they didn't get, in lieu of James being brought back. They are stunned to learn that it was Alex. Stunned, and certainly horrified, in some cases. How different would things be now?
As the votes come in, it is close. Very close. And then, a tie. 3-3 for Ryan and Matt, so it is up to James to have to immediately break the tie. I was really thinking that Sheila's tirade swayed him, but James votes to evict Matt.
Natalie is devastated, and only slightly comforted by Chelsia saying that maybe he'll be walking right back in, should an alarm go off. Natalie's probably still waiting by the door, just in case. Poor thing. My cousin, a big fan of the show, thinks that if Natalie ends up winning, she would give Matt half of the money. THAT'S how deep her love goes.
Do you agree? James, in his goodbye video for Matt, remains entirely too self-righteous about why this had to be done because of Matt's betrayal. Doesn't James realize that he just did the exact same thing to Matt as was done to him the week before, and it was Ryan who was responsible for that?
And I have to say, I'm annoyed that Sharon voted Matt out as well. What is this girl's game play about? She wastes her time making out with Matt, setting up a secret "showmance" there, and then gets rid of him in favor of Ryan, with whom she has no relationship? Strange strategy there. I'm betting pretty soon, Sharon's docile demeanor and willingness to hide behind Joshuah will come back to haunt her.
Well, it looks like at least we'll have some new interesting developments next week because Adam, a buddy of Ryan's, wins the HOH. It's time for Mr. Big (Eyes, Mouth, Bible...pick one) to get his shot at the power position. He'll have to put up two people for nomination, and you know what I'd like to see? Him put up Josh and Sharon, and then if one comes down with the POV, put up James and attempt another back-door.
But, ah, it doesn't matter what I think.
What about what you think??OH! And before I forget, what'd you think of catching up with Dick and Daniele? Amazing that those two healed their stormy father-daughter relationship on a reality TV show? Don't forget that we love Evel Dick here at CBS2.com as well, and have
interviewed him recently! We also interviewed Daniele so check back soon for her video clips, too!
